Garrett Cooperative Ministry funds SING

Local non-profit has been long-time supporter of GC food pantry

Garrett Cooperative Ministry, Inc. has made a gift to the Garrett College Students In Need Group (SING), which operates the College’s food pantry.

"Food insecurity is one of the most critical needs we address in our student population," said Dr. JR Kerns, Garrett College’s dean of student affairs. "We appreciate Garrett Cooperative Ministry’s ongoing concerns about our students’ welfare. With this gift, Garrett Cooperative Ministry has ensured the College has pantry funding for the entire 2025-26 academic year."

Cherie Krug, executive director of the Garrett College Foundation, noted the gift "is just the latest effort by Garrett Cooperative Ministry to help the College address food insecurity."

"We appreciate the ongoing relationship among Garrett Cooperative Ministry, Garrett College, and the Garrett College Foundation," said Krug.

Dr. Richard Midcap, Garrett College’s president, lauded Garrett Cooperative Ministry’s "impactful mission, which supports and uplifts our community."

Garrett Cooperative Ministry, Inc. – which trades as Christian Crossing Thrift Shop – is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. Its mission is "to improve the quality of life for those of limited means and those in critical need."
