Garrett College’s entry in the Dove Center’s Festival of Trees was a collaborative effort among students, staff, Art Instructor Lacy Oliverio, and community members.

Creating Garrett College's entry in the Dove Center's Festival of Trees was truly a team effort.

GC's entry is a holiday tree sculpture crafted from natural wooden branches and adorned with handmade ceramic ornaments created by students in Art Instructor Lacy Oliverio's ceramic arts class. College staff from the Quality of Work Life Committee – Amy Beeman, Janis Bush, Dee Durst, Emily Germond, Janet Kepple, Susie Mark, and Tina Swaney – all contributed to the design of the minimalist triangular frame that features the ornaments.

GC Facilities Department member Jason Younkin designed and assembled the easel that supports the tree, and community members Cassidy Mark and Donna Midcap served as creative consultants.

"This piece celebrates creativity, community, and the warmth of handcrafted art," said Bush. "Together, the natural materials and student-made ceramics create a rustic, artistic centerpiece that reflects the collaborative spirit of Garrett College."

The ornaments include a mix of small, round ceramic medallions, star-shaped pieces, and pinecone accents, all suspended with twine and ribbon. A light string adds a soft glow, and a metal star crowns the top.
