Three-day course has credit and continuing education options

McHenry, MD – Garrett College is offering a three-day Mountain Bike Mechanics course March 6-8. The course has a credit option through GC’s Center for Adventure and Outdoor Studies (CAOS) as well as a continuing education option via the College’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) division.

Scott Richardson, Adventure Equipment Center (AEC) manager, said people can benefit from the course “whether they’re a dedicated rider, aspiring bike shop tech, trail builder, or outdoor professional.”

“This course provides the hands-on skills to confidently maintain and repair mountain bikes in the field and in a professional shop setting,” said Richardson.

Students will learn how to properly use specialty tools, diagnose common mechanical issues, perform essential maintenance, and keep bikes running smoothly when it matters most—on the trail. From drivetrain tuning to brake adjustments and trailside fixes, students will build a strong technical foundation.

“This will be practical, skill-focused instruction designed for riders who want to be self-reliant,” said Richardson.

Online registration is available (https://cewd.garrettcollege.edu/modules/help.html); interested individuals may also call 301.387.3069 for assistance with registering for the course, which costs $300.
