Garrett College Allied Health students are continuing their progression through a comprehensive, multi-certification healthcare training pathway as they enter the next phase of their professional development.

The group of six students has successfully completed both the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) programs and are now advancing through the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program. This stacked credential approach provides students with a well-rounded skill set, preparing them for a variety of roles within the healthcare field.

"Currently, students are completing their required clinical hours, gaining valuable hands-on experience in real-world healthcare settings," said Doug Beitzel, Garrett College’s allied health program coordinator. "In the coming weeks, they will be eligible to sit for their National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exams for both CPT and CMAA, marking significant milestones in their educational journey."

The cohort will continue through the CCMA program, with completion anticipated this summer. Upon finishing, students will be prepared to sit for the CCMA national certification exam, further expanding their qualifications and career opportunities.

Beitzel said this multi-certification model enhances employability by equipping students with clinical, administrative, and patient care skills—making them highly competitive candidates in today’s healthcare workforce.

"Garrett College commends these students for their dedication and commitment," said Beitzel. "We look forward to celebrating their continued success as they complete their certifications and begin making a meaningful impact in the healthcare field." Applications are now open for the next Allied Health cohort, with classes scheduled to begin in Fall 2026. Individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare through Garrett College’s Allied Health programs are encouraged to apply early.
