GC Study Abroad receives 2025 trip funding
Landon's Library, Lions Club, Naylor Travel Fund gifts announced
Landon's Library, Deep Creek Lake Lions Club, and the Naylor Travel Grant Fund are teaming up to support Garrett College's Study Abroad program, which has a 12-day trip to Greece and Italy planned for June 12th through June 23rd.
Landon's Library is assisting with travel expenses and the Lions Club is paying for T-shirts for trip participants. The Naylor Travel Fund, overseen by the Garrett College Foundation, is defraying participant registration fees.
"We're very grateful to each of these organizations for their assistance," said Carla Zeigler, who serves as study abroad coordinator in addition to her position as the College's coordinator of distance learning and instructional design.
Zeigler said the 14-person travel group includes seven current students, a former student, two current and one former faculty members, one staff member, and two community members. Zeigler and her fellow study abroad coordinator, Assistant Professor of Sociology Michele Murray, are leading the tour.
Landon's Library provides books each month to every child born in Garrett County from date of birth until their first day of kindergarten. To date, over 500,000 books have been distributed.
Deep Creek Lions Club's mission is to improve the lives of the visually impaired and the local community. The Lions Club's service programs include blind skiers, blind campers, vision screening, and Adopt-a-Highway participation.
The Garrett College Foundation, Inc., is a 501(C)3 corporation established to support Garrett College and its activities.
