The Lakers, ranked 13th nationally, have outscored their three dual-match opponents by a combined 133-34.

McHenry, MD – The Lakers made short work – literally and figurately – of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College’s first-year wrestling team Friday night.

GC parlayed three pins and five forfeits into a 48-11 rout that took 32 minutes from start to finish. Camden Hull (141 pounds), Shea Rogers (149), and Kollin Sullivan (174) all registered pins. The Black Bears forfeited at 125, 157, 165, 184, and 285 pounds as Garrett (3-0) stayed unbeaten in dual matches this season.

GC head coach David Wingate praised the Black Bears, who showed promise in multiple weight classes.

“They had some talented guys,” Wingate said of Penn Highlands, which notched two pins of their own thanks to Black Bears Zach Gomer-Chrobocinski (133 pounds) and Alex Crist (197).

The most competitive match of the night was provided by Sullivan and Penn Highlands’ Omar Parker. Sullivan turned a 4-4 match in the second period into a lightning-quick pin off an ankle takedown.

“That was tight,” said Wingate.

“It was a pretty good match,” said Sullivan. “I knew what I had to do in that situation to capitalize on that chance.”

The Lakers, ranked 13th nationally, have outscored their three dual-match opponents by a combined 133-34.

“It’s just a matter of ‘keep climbing the hill until we get to the top,’ ” said Wingate, whose squad should be one of the prime contenders for the Gulf Atlantic District team title in February.

The Lakers are off until participating in the Niagara County (NY) Community College Duals on December 5th and the follow-up NCCC Open on December 6th.
