Lakers split Ferrum wrestling matches
Garrett College defeats club team, loses to NCAA squad
Nick Anderson, GC 125
Garrett College produced two different results Sunday against two different Ferrum (VA) College wrestling teams.
The Lakers defeated Ferrum's club team, 39-15, but dropped a 28-16 contest against their guest's NCAA Division III squad. The split left GC with a 4-3 record in dual matches.
Four Lakers – Nicholas Anderson (125 pounds), Cameron Cannaday (157), Liam DeBaugh (197), and Elijah Boston (285) – notched wins against the NCAA team, which is currently transitioning to Division II. Cannaday, Brooks Smith (165), and Kollin Sullivan (174) had victories against Ferrum's club team, which also forfeited four matches to GC.
"I saw a lot of great things on Sunday and I saw some things that we need to fix,"said GC head coach David Wingate, adding, "but that's what practice is for."
Garrett's next event is January 24th at the Jamestown (NY) Open.
