Nonprofit Management course scheduled

GC's Business Solutions offering designed to develop nonprofit leaders

Garrett College is offering a new, comprehensive suite of four courses designed to develop local leaders in the nonprofit field.

Nonprofit Management, offered through Continuing Education & Workforce Development's Business Solutions office, is being delivered through a comprehensive suite of four courses over eight online class meetings. The program takes place on eight Wednesdays from 9-11:30 a.m. starting May 21st, with a registration deadline of May 15th.

"Students will learn about transforming their organization's mission into action, setting strategic goals, conducting effective meetings, implementing communication plans, and understanding financial statements," said Kaitlyn Glotfelty, Garrett College's director of community and professional education. "This course aims to assist nonprofit leaders in taking their organizations to the next level, giving them the tools and knowledge to excel in a director-level position."

Glotfelty added that the curriculum also covers effective grant strategies and crafting successful grant applications. She said students will also learn "how to build an engaged board using best practices and onboarding methods."

The course meeting dates and topics are listed below:

The Big Picture (May 21 & 28): Move from Mission to Action, Define Essential Tools, Set Strategic Goals.

Organizational Tools (June 4 & 11): Conduct Effective Meetings, Implement a Communications Plan, Understand Financial Statements.
