Performing Arts Center launches new website
Lowdermilk says new site improves end users' experience
The Performing Arts Center at Garrett College recently launched a new PAC website.
The Performing Arts Center at Garrett College has launched a new PAC website.
The website, created by Garrett College Web Developer David Lantz, has dramatically enhanced the user experience, according to Chantel Lowdermilk.
"We were looking for improved ease of access, including the ability to more quickly identify events and make ticket purchases," said Lowdermilk, who moves from assistant director to director of the PAC and Garrett College events on July 1. "I think that's what we've achieved – the new site is more straightforward and accessible, and with improved speed."
Lowdermilk commended Lantz for building a website that addressed PAC priorities. Community members can access the site at https://www.performingartsgc.com/
"He's been very particular in checking all the boxes," Lowdermilk said of Lantz. "He was able to capture all of our needs and then provide enhancements that met those needs.
"The beauty of the new website is its flexibility and adaptability," continued Lowdermilk, noting updating can now be handled directly by the PAC team. "We're able to update the website quickly when information changes or more information becomes available."
The home page includes a tab of upcoming events as well as an "Our Venue" tab that also simplifies user experiences, according to Lowdermilk.
"The venue tab makes it easier to inquire about renting PAC space and leads users directly to a registration form," she said.
Lowdermilk reported that ticket sales for all PAC partners except StageWEST are handled through a third-party vendor – Ticket Spice – selected in part due to the ease of use with the company's ticket-purchasing platform. StageWEST event information and ticketing can be accessed from a prominent link on the PAC homepage that in three clicks allows users to view the 2026 season calendar and order tickets via the Arts People ticketing system.
Two StageWEST events highlight the June PAC calendar. The Washington Symphony Orchestra visits on Saturday, June 13th for a 7:30 p.m. performance, and The American ABBA Tribute brings Mama Mania to the PAC on Saturday, June 27th at 7:30 p.m.
"I think Mamma Mania is going to be a huge crowd-pleaser," Lowdermilk said of the tribute band, which pays homage to ABBA's legacy with everything from Dancing Queen to, of course, Mamma Mia.
Lowdermilk said she, PAC Events Specialist Susan Rexroad, and Audio Visual Technician Daniel Skipper appreciate the opportunity to help expand the region's access to performing arts through their work.
"This venue is just a wonderful addition to the community for both meeting space and on-stage events," said Lowdermilk of the PAC, which opened in spring 2023.
Julie Yoder, Garrett College's dean of continuing education and workforce development, lauded Lowdermilk's contributions to the PAC's launch and ongoing growth.
"Chantel has been an integral part of the PAC team since its opening," said Yoder. "Beginning in a support role, she quickly established herself by leveraging her experience and diverse skill set, making her a natural choice for increasingly responsible leadership roles as coordinator, assistant director, and now director. Her collaborative, team-oriented approach positions her well for continued success in this role."
Lowdermilk noted a PAC community survey is available for public participation. The survey may be accessed at: Satisfaction Survey - Performing Arts Center at Garrett College
