Hunter Green, a Stuck Enterprises driver, completed his CDL training at the Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute operated by Garrett College

One of Stuck Enterprises President Steve Stuck's favorite sayings is "we keep it community." That extends to training employees with local roots through Garrett College.

Hunter Green – who drives trucks for Oakland Oil & Propane, a Stuck Enterprises Company – is just one of the latest examples of this philosophy.

"We immediately knew he was a natural fit for our team," Stuck said of Green, who grew up in Garrett County before graduating from Hope for Hyndman (PA) Charter School. "Our first step was to help him build a foundation – and we knew there was no better place than Garrett College's Mountaintop Truck Driving Institute."

Stuck gained first-hand knowledge of the MTDI program when his son, Matt, obtained his Commercial Driver's License (CLD) from the Garrett College program. That led Oakland Oil & Propone to regularly send CDL candidates to the College.

"The expert staff and top-notch learning programs offered by Garrett College gave Hunter the knowledge and skills to get his Commercial Driver's License and receive hands-on training," noted Stuck.

"The instructors covered everything I needed to know," Green said of his MTDI training.

"We have a great relationship with Stuck Enterprises," said Donna Bittinger, who oversees MTDI as the College's assistant director of workforce development. "They've been a wonderful partner and we hope to continue growing that relationship."

Bittinger was particularly happy to see Green become an MTDI student.

"I actually taught Hunter in first grade," said Bittinger with a laugh. "It's pretty cool to see him come back and get his CDL B with us."

"That was cool I could meet her [Bittinger] again," Green said.

"Hunter is one of my best employees – and I can confidently say, as a fellow graduate of Garrett College, that he received the best CDL training in our area," said Matt Armstrong, Green's supervisor.

"Due to the quality training that he received, bringing Hunter up to speed was a quick process – and his impact on our business was felt immediately," added Armstrong. "But what truly makes Hunter such a valuable member of our team is his work ethic, spirit of teamwork, and willingness to jump in and help."

Armstrong said Stuck Enterprises "looks forward to continuing to recruit top talent from Garrett College in the future."
