Backflow Certification

The purpose of this training is to fully acquaint apprentice, journey, and master plumbers with the use, operation, testing, and surveying procedures of backflow prevention in an effort to ensure that potable water does not cause the spread of communicable diseases like typhoid, infectious hepatitis, scarlet fever, polio, poliomyelitis, and dysentery, etc. This course addresses what backflow preventers are, how they are tested, how they are installed and where they are required. Upon passing the written and practical exams the student is certified (if a licensed plumber in Maryland) as a Certified Backflow Prevention Technician. Recertification is required every three years to keep certification current.

45-Hour Infant & Toddler Training for Caregivers

This program is an introduction to curriculum and activities for infants and toddlers. Emphasis is placed on the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate program. The supports and services provided through early intervention and preschool special education can help infants and toddlers and their families make the powerful connections to improve their ability to learn. This course is offered in a hybrid format.

9-Hour Communication Training for Caregivers

Nine clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents, and the public. This fulfills communication requirement through MSDE.

45-Hour Child Care Administration

This program is designed for students to gain the required knowledge skills for childcare center directors. It provides an overview of the basic childcare services from family day care, group day care and school age centers.

Transportation

Hazmat Endorsement

This course will provide instructional classroom training to prepare students for the MD CDL Hazmat endorsement. Topics covered will include the identification of various hazardous material classes, proper packaging groups, acceptance and refusal of hazardous packages, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Forklift Certification

This course is designed to teach the student how to properly operate an industrial powered forklift. The course satisfies 29 CRF 1910.178 of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Powered Industrial Truck Operator Training Standard. Students will receive formal training in the classroom, practical training with hands on instruction and an evaluation upon completion of training with successful participants receiving a certificate of training and wallet card. Topics include the following: pre-inspection, loading and unloading, maneuvering and operational skills, rules and regulations, and an emphasis on safety.

Fleet Air Brake Maintenance

This course provides safety directors, fleet managers, mechanics, drivers and anyone driving a vehicle 26001 pounds with updated information necessary to complete brake repairs and adjustments. Topics include the following: a step-by-step development of a truck air system, expansion into a tractor system, and then adding trailer components, an explanation of the individual components, how they work, and how they inter-relate and an explanation of the requirements and how it is met. Included will be troubleshooting/identification tips on the various components involved along with coverage on the mandatory line protection feature found in trailers. The focus will be on tractors, trailers, dollies, and straight trucks. Federal regulations will also be discussed. Chip DiSorbo, National Account Manager with Haldex Brake Products Corporation, will be giving the presentation and issuing a certificate of completion for those finishing the training.

Flagger Certification & Training

This certification course is required for individuals flagging along Maryland roadways. The primary objectives of the course are to train flaggers to provide safe passage through and around work areas and to minimize confusion by bringing standard procedures to our nation’s highways. The course is approved by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) and will be instructed by a certified flagger professional. Topics include the following: flagging standards, flagger qualifications, proper flagging procedures, use of equipment such as two-way radios, signs, flags, and what to do in special situations. Certification cards will be issued to those who demonstrate a competency and knowledge of proper flagging techniques and practices.
